Aight. Enough. This whole “ERMAHGAWD HES A FREIND” thing was cute for the first 50ish chapters but at this point its draging. One of them needs to become FULLY cognizant of their feelings. And then we can have 20-30 chapters of that and then 1-10 chapters of them dating and a frustrating 1-2 chapter wrap up. AS THE MANGA GODS INTENDED (may they rot in hell(

This is a Japanese manga, not some lgbt marvel slop. I truly sincerely doubt the author even knows what aroace is and just find it funny.

Nevermind the fact that Noa accidentally getting too close, showing cleavage or her nips showing through have had an obvious effect on Rihito
There have been lgbt themes in manga forever dont act like its only existed since modern marvel.

Aro/ace people can also get embarrassed by things like that due to being influenced by societies perceptions of it getting embarrassed by it isnt the same as being attracted to it.

Though if he is just Aro then he reaction is normal anyway he just wont ever be romantically interested in her.

I hope Rihito will, at some point, if my suspicions are correct, let something slip that reveals that he could see himself with Noa. I think right now, he's not at all thinking about Noa in that way, but I don't think he's against the idea. Rather, Rithito could just never imagine that this is what Noa is thinking.

it certainly feels like her mood swings aren’t being played up so much for comedic effect anymore which is the least i can ask for

They both came so close to realizing something here. If only there was more than one active braincell between them

I agree with you on your points in response to the other guy, but if we look at this from a practical and more meta point of view:

What exactly would the point of making a romcom, where one of the main characters is incapable of romance, be? Like sure, you could do that, but why would you? That's like the worst of both worlds, imo.

We don't get any thoughtful examination of the aromantic individual and beyond that, it would be frustrating because they never get any peace or are allowed to just exist in the way they'd like to as a result of the other party; then on the other hand, the romantically interested individual is incapable of making any romantic progress, and as a result of falling in love with someone who literally cannot reciprocate, finds themselves doomed to heartbreak.

Idk about you, but both of those outcomes seem super ass to me.

Maybe in a more overtly serious manga, a more nuanced manga, it could work, but the tone of this so far would clash extremely hard with the lategame "yeah Rihito just can't fall in love at all actually" reveal

Aro ace slop is a modern western invention. Marvel lgbt garbage is not at all comparable to what has traditionally shown up in japanese media, its not even close in tone or content.

In a japanese manga you could get a shota crossdressing because its cute and its funny to make a character struggle with being forced into a dress. If it were western he'd just be a tranny and give someone a lecture for being a bigot.

Dont pathologize someone reacting to a huge pair of boobs, its insane to go muh society conditioned him to react that way. He is just a man being confronted with a nice set that belongs to a valued friend that he doesnt want to make uncomfortable, hence his reaction.

I think the narrative of "these two are only destined to be friends" or "they are both so dense for each other" is off the mark. I think this is more about each of them missing a piece of themselves to be a healthy functional person; a person able to maintain a serious relationship. Noa has negative self esteem which causes her to panic, doubt, and catastrophize every scenario. Rihito is clearly the opposite in which he is so detached from getting close to people and dismisses it off as not understanding it. If and when the author is able to buckle down and give us some meaningful growth, I'm pretty sure we can see them each give the other what their missing. Stability and confidence for Noa, and passion and warmth for Rihito.

Rather than permanently paint each of them in negative stereotypes that will never change, which is easy to do, we can still get a story where they are able to grow and become better versions of themselves. Rihito will still be aloof and Noa emotional, but as people capable of dealing with it, or more satisfyingly, reign each other in as a couple.

The fun part will be watching how they each realize how much they value the other as a person and enjoy being with them. In good old 'opposites attract' fashion.

Well... Ignoring Chuito shitshow...
People can have very specific triggers to get attracted to others (forgot the name), I think this is Rihito case
Nobody sane likes western lgbt garbage and I'm tired of pretending. I hate seeing it forcefully shoved in japanese media where it doesn't belong.

"Demisexual" is literally just being normal and not a whore, if that's the thing you are thinking of.

This guy gets it.
This gets more obvious after re-reading.
Characters here tend to be exaggerated personality archetypes, the main pair being the most over the top one
