The real issue is that Noa has too much Yang, while Rihito exhibits too much Yin.

The reason they (or in this case Noa) gravitate together is because each has what the other lacks. Thus, they must engage in dual Cultivation to restore balance.

in terms of cultivation stories. i think rihito would be one of those monk type cultivators. and noa would be one of those qi instability people.

the story I'd go with is that noa is one of the respected family people but has a secret weakness that causes the unstable qi. And thats how she'd meet rihito; she'd be searching for a cure. then in the past she'd be getting scammed by others like the boyfriends she had here.

so that's where the dueling comes in. rihito has the excess yin type, but I'm saying he's also compatible with it. some kind of special body type thing. and noa has the excess yang but its incompatible with her. the solution they find is that noa has to throw herself at the wall that rihito is. in battle.

the problem then is she doesn't know that thats the thing thats helping her, just like the splatoon they play helps her gain some stability, but she overdoes it and gets obsessed with the person who helps her.
