If you did watch their live-action trailer, the situation has turn from bad to worst because there is another murder happening somewhere and they want their village reputation to be free of bad media press (my thoughts).

if he's dead just like that, just report it. It's not like u actually choke hold him or something.
This's no way a smart decision.
They even has a cop as a witness, they can even declare this as self defense, the dude has knife, treepassing, etc. This makes almost no sense.
