Been a user of the site for a long time and was ultimately happy with it despite some irksome changes, shit happens but I get it. Logging into the website and going to the front page for once rather than directly to the titles I read and being hit with a AI Girlfriend site ad is a bit too much to approve of though. I get that this shit is expensive to maintain but come on man, this shit is ass

Yeah, I'm blocking every ad from now on, and I'm sure I'm hardly the only person who tolerated them for the sake of the site until this. Not to mention being willing to accept AI money will now make everyone worry if the code of this place is going to become even worse.

The money pouring into the AI scam is gonna run out sooner rather than later and whatever scummy ad networks you're a part of now are gonna vaporize. Get a new ad service before that happens. If you can't, just shut it down and be done with it.

I don't get why people are upset, if you hate AI companies the ad being on the site means they have to pay mangadex, so less money for the AI company and more money for Mangadex.

Having an ad on a site has never been an endorsement and definitely doesn't mean AI is involved in this site in anyway.

And if you're just upset at the possibility of people clicking on the link because they're interested in something related to AI then sorry to say but people are free to like different things than you.

The good thing with this ad is that it finally made me use the extended block list on my mobile adblock since mangadex was the only website where I was still seeing ads with my mobile browser. I didn't bother me that much. Now it's gone.

Thank you to everyone who expressed their disagreement and concerns about this AI-slop ad, as this has helped us provide concrete evidence to support our arguments.

The ad should be gone in a bit (1h max), leaving the placeholder with the 2 little dorks visible again.

Mangadex doesn't have a problem reversing their policy after all, like putting ads in the first place.
