The stuff published by comic artists in France and even the US mid-to-late 20th-century would have given you all aneurysms. Moebius published weirder and more uncomfortable stuff than this and he’s considered a god of the industry.

I don't think it's fair to call them 'pussy crying bitchbabies' - you're allowed to feel weirded out by 'taboos'.
My rule is that as long as they don't start treating the characters as if they're real and saying the existence of them as a fictional ship is objectively wrong then I'll treat them with respect.
