"I guess I must have done something wrong raising you two."
It's almost like constantly comparing sbilings - always raising one up and always putting one down - messes them up and causes problems. 🙃 HMMMM.

Also, hard to feel sorry for Cliff losing his loved one when he and she schemed to completely ruin and kill other people.

Sigh. I really liked the ending of the novel, where
Killion and Edith take over the territory he was promised earlier in the series and they build it up from scratch to a prosperous territory with help from Edith's modern knowledge
. It's now forgotten on the manhwa. I liked that they left behind the toxicity of the nobles who tore Edith down and had their own peace in the home and community they build up on their own, allowing them all to heal their relationships. Tbh I don't understand why they had to make Cliff this besotted fool when he was also controlled by the author, and he could have also moved on like everyone else.

Killion just getting the Duke's position by default is so antithetical to what his character struggle was, of how he felt he never measured up to perfect Cliff, it just sucks that this changed because it wastes the development he's had up in this last part. Killion finding peace in himself and his relationship with Edith in the novel meant mentally and physically distancing himself from the toxicity he was subjected to and forging his own spectacular success with Edith. Not this slapped on Duke position handed to him. He would be forever living in Cliff's shadow.

I dunno, sometimes I feel these Korean manhwas glorify the status symbols of these fictional hierarchical societies too much, where a higher title = success = happiness. Yet the characters could also lead happy, successful, fulfilling lives with a different disposition, away from the politics of the capital, focusing on their own growth as a couple and finding happiness in the hard work they can put in to develop something they can fully call their own.

It's pretty funny. Edith is concerned about how quickly events are diverging from the plot of the original novel, that not all of these developments are good ones, and worries if this is all really for the best. Meanwhile, in the comments, I keep seeing fans of the real-world novel saying the same things, lmao. This series has always been a bit meta, so there's a pleasant kind of irony in seeing events chaotically diverge from the source material once it's characters have been "freed", and having some readers wish they would obediently get back on the paths the book laid for them.

The reason I feel bad for him is that he has essentially been mind controlled by the story since he first saw Reeze, accepting that and breaking free from it is absolutely not an easy thing and I could see it being quite easy to progressively do more and more messed up things to justify your emotions and former actions

Bye, Cliff. If others were able to break free from the author’s control, you could’ve broken yourself free too.

Oi, I was already expecting that Killeon and Edith will live in a remote castle. Why bringing up the Duke position now? @.@

cliff being given the opportunity to go meet the og author who is currently being tortured by a bunch of other ediths is for sure not going to be a problem later...

also pretty meta for a manhwa about not following the original story to not actually follow it's original story
