This story is literally a they look like they have that type of relationship when it's more wholesome. It's literally a cliche. And because it is that's why this story subverting the trope is successful.

You must have gone to quite a wild school! Japan still requires students to wear uniforms and maybe still the majority of them don't allow visible piercings or anything other fancy. We all know of the stories of a Japanese school demanding that a genetically blond(ish) student with a foreign background needs to dye her hair. I don't think a class rep type literature girl would be up for such an act. Pay attention to the "Ah, he's actually obedient" happening before the "let's do it right here" line.

I mean, he's failing the most basic genre savviness and try to act like he's the 'smart' one about it.
Especially this many chapters in, when the story has established the whole easily misunderstood stuffs (heck even Onodera fell for it early on)

If they said something uber offensive like "OH I HOPE THEY ALL DIE!!" then sure I get the spam.

But all they did was repeat the details of what happened in the chapter in a manga forum. Where we are supposed to discuss the details of what we see in a chapter.

Again, before she learn of his real personality even Onodera herself was like that.

So in your example situation, he'd be someone going "why are they kissing?" if anything.
