Japanese very rarely uses gendered pronouns. 99/100 times no pronoun is used but that sounds odd in English so its added.

So it was more the translators putting she/her assuming he knew.

This is why in a lot of manga this kind of mistake happens. One of the big issues of translating from J->E.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional (vs just weird TL) since this is a genderbend reincarnation series. If she still thinks of herself as just as much the previous hero as her current self, she might just be using this wording since she still considers herself a guy to a point.
