It was rather sudden. Usually there are hints about it, or the story's obviously leaning in that direction.

Did she really need to be a 'childhood friend' romantic interest?

I want some serious payoff for this. It has to be worth it.

I don’t think it’s going to be harem but more of a little drama for a bit.

This is still more dangers of the heart than harem. It’s been nearly 20 chapters and now we have this, it’s just bait for drama.

Maybe it will make miyamoto wake up. They’re “dating” already remember.
