In most of east Asia from what I've seen, foreign country = English
Not accurate but a common misconception for understandable reasons due to English being the international language

This world is weird, because as someone else already pointed out tigers and gorillas don't overlap, but also the Rafflesia flowers confuse the situation even further.

…Perhaps he confused Gorillas with Orangutans? They're both big primates and while not very similar, I wouldn't be surprised that he couldn't tell the difference.
