The development was also amazing in my opinion and also w the teacher who gave them the advice
When I saw this on TikTok I thought this was gonna be a sad ending but thankfully it was just showcasing how they become lovers and forgetting the past to move on both mc and fmc suffered a lot but also gained a lot when they meet each other stuffs that they haven't experienced once they experienced it with each other the warmth of love they give each other is amazing
Overall this was a good all manga even though it has only 19 chapters though I hope they will continue this if there is still a continuation to this

Every now and again, I love a good wallow, and so the fact that both of these people had a massive sulk on, and all the people that had let them down were snivelling wrecks that got punished, really fed my soul.
I see some comments seem to dislike the fact that they heal up in the end, and to some extent, I can agree with that, but I think it is because the story gets rushed. If this story was paced out over a couple of years and more in depth it would have been much better, but I can accept it in this short form. But I really would love to see this same story over 150 chapters. That would be so satisfying.

Short and sweet story about healing, forgiveness and moving on. Really love how they pulled each other up and even prevented Paguko from closing herself.

PS: To all those complaining about MC cutting contact with family, I'll say this: Wearing your morality on a stick doesn't make you a "good" person (good on who's standards anways). Put yourself in the character's shoes. Have some empathy.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this. It’s not the best thing I’ve ever read but it’s got a lot of heart. I feel like a better translation of the earlier chapters would have gone a long way but the overall plot is lovely I think. A lot of people don’t like the final chapter with him forgiving the girls, but honestly the way they handle it with him just kind of accepting their existence instead of it being some big thing or remaining closed off felt fine to me, he forgave them but there’s a tacit understanding that things won’t go back to how they were.

Story was interesting in the beginning where the MC gets screwed over by the people who wronged him. The writer knows how hate these characters.

My issue is that it starts to fall off in the later chapters where this plot barely gets resolved which then starts to focus on the two MCs seen in the cover art. Sure, we get some character development between them but it doesn't feel that different to a standard SoL drama. That's when it started to get boring for me but I still read it in the end because series was short. If it was like 50 chapters then I would have given up on it.

A story which has a similar premise to this but doesn't have the SoL part is Osananajimi Kanojo no Morahara ga Hidoin de Zetsuen Sengen shite Yatta. Although, the series is trying to stretch the story a bit now.

I'm actually surprised that a lot of people seemed to dislike this style of writing... and more so the direction of the story and the fact that the MC let go of their past

Stories of regret and trauma is not a new concept, but I liked how the manga depicted each character's "letting go" as realistically as it can be. If you've hurt someone in the past, and that person no longer wishes to see you, then the best you can do is to apologize and go away. Instead of constantly berating them with surprises and acts of kindness that are not rooted in any genuine interest, which is often borderline narcissistic and selfish because you're interacting with them for the sake of fulfilling your guilt, it'd provide them with more closure by not being present in their lives and not reminding them so much of their past. I like that conclusion, and I like it even further that the girls who did the MC wrong at least had the self-consciousness to realise that and give him peace.

Same goes for the MC and fMC. Though I'd like to hear more of their backstories, especially fMC's, I feel like their dynamic is very well grounded. I'd thought it would be one of those "losers dating losers" type of trope but in the end the both of them healed from their trauma and grew into more optimistic individuals together, knowing that they now have someone they can trust.

If anything I find the manga quite wholesome tbh, it definitely gives you that butterfly feeling in your stomach, and as short of a manga as it is, I felt the author concluded the story as best as they see fit.

Edit: I also saw a lot of people comment how they see the MC as annoying and were disappointed when he forgave them. For me, I don't see it that way. If anything I see it as the MC 'triumphing' over the influence they've had on him. I've had a similar personal experience before, I hated the person so much that I became restless and couldn't sleep or eat properly, I found that through forgiving them (not forgetting what they did btw) made me found my inner peace. Sure I still wouldn't be friends with them, but it's more like I forgave them for the sake of my mental well-being, and that I think is what made me relate to the MC so much

Still doesn't excuse the typical SoL story that needed to be tacked on at the end after the MC moved on.

For starters there's 19 chapters each having like 20 pages each that's like a single volume of a manga obviously the story isnt gonna be too long and story is honestly pretty good considering that could go into backstories a bit more tho Imo

I've read the whole thing myself. I don't see why it's so bad. It's not like it happened overnight for him. The whole point here is that part of healing is letting go of your past, and that means letting go of whatever bad feelings you had about people in your past.

And as a very light spoiler to your spoiler, he didn't exactly become chummy with any of them. He just freed himself from the power they all had on him, partly because all the girls genuinely regret what they did to him in the past, and they found the exact right way to express it; they stopped begging for forgiveness, they backed off and stopped forcing their guilt on him.

Regret? I dont believe in something like that. They destroyed his life he could had trauma all his life or even try ending his life too, even at home he wasnt happy. Just bc pomeko saved him it doesnt mean those girls should be freed from their guilt. As the title says, its too late for that. If you gonna regret something u will regret it after the a while u did it not after years.

Liked this one way more than i could admit, hehe.

But i get MC, had some similar experiences like this in the past. You see: while people would project themselves as the MC and want revenge and it's satisfaction, a maturity sign in social relationships is that...you CAN forgive, but not forget. Treat other with formality, but you're not obliged to welcome them back in your life.

The thing with Shizuka, Saito and Haruka is that, while asking for forgiveness, they don't think about Makoto, nor his feelings. They just want to "make amends" and return to the status quo before the distrust, like it could be just that simple. People will cling to most of their positive, most cherished memories, while not understanding/accepting that the scenario has changed, and that things can't go back to the way they were, it's too late for that.

His mother did not believe in him, nor did anything to understand him, either. You can see it when she does not think about why he does not want to mingle with her and Haruka. She just wanted her normal family life, for him to "forget the past, bear with it and move on", not to fix his trauma, just don't think too hard about them.

Haruka understood and agreed to his going out of home, knowing it was hurting him staying there. Shizuka and Saito understanding that they could not have that "golden time" back, but didn't want to leave that deep of a scar on him, something only Pomeko could heal.

Pomeko and Nyanta's entire arc in the manga is to heal each other, make each other grow, mature and understand themselves better and how to deal with thei own trauma and the world around them. Having someone by your side, in difficult times, helping you, cherishing you( look at his father's short, but important, passage in the manga with Saiko, for instance)...that's more important.

I get people talking about pacing and more chapters( i'd like about 30, at least), but the story's deepest point is conveyed good enough. Sadly( and that's an opinion of mine), maybe it's more appreciated when you've gone through something similar in betrayal, outgrowing and understanding.

Finished reading, and I can see how betrayal can close off a person's heart. But at the same time, I felt that the story was a little too optimistic with the girls from his past coming together to try to fix things despite all the gaslighting and selfishness they had shown.
I disagree with how mc just forgives them in the end. Real life isn't that clean.

I also see what some people say that the attempt to switch to SoL was awkward and threw off the pacing. Not sure if it is because the manga felt rushed.

Also, I managed to find a translated version of the LN and have read the first few chapters. What everyone in the LN, except for fmc, had done was far worse and crueler than what the manga depicted. It was bad enough that most people would have self-deleted from the abuse and isolation.
In addition, the gaslighting the girls put him through is much worse in the LN.
