The first one was kept as its literal translation of the line "絶望して 辞めていく". The second is a reference world tree supports the world. In this context it basically means "I will be your rock" "your support" etc. I kept that expression as is because the idiom is not native to Japan and actually has roots in Europe with the Norse.
