Because Mangakas have no idea how to write antagonistic characters acting a stepping stone for MCs, without making them completely brain rot.I still don't get why that teacher hates on mc so much, besides "recommended by some prodigy talent" nepotism (sorta, not actually related). But then proceeds to go an do worse stuff and favour other ppl himself?

I read ahead a little, and I'm not so sure about this since I don't actually read japanese... But I think it has been foreshadowed. Let's just say that the discrimination goes both ways from both parties of swordsman and mages.Because Mangakas have no idea how to write antagonistic characters acting a stepping stone for MCs, without making them completely brain rot.
But that has nothing to do with the teacher's actions regarding mc? Remember that all teacher (a mage) knows about mc, is that mc is recommended as a prodigious mage by another prodigy mage and backed by her house. So saying that the teacher dislikes mc because the teacher is a swordsman, seems incorrect (he's not a swordsman).I read ahead a little, and I'm not so sure about this since I don't actually read japanese... edit: unless I misread... in which I'll edit this again later
You are correct. Swordsmen and magicians hate each other.I read ahead a little, and I'm not so sure about this since I don't actually read japanese... But I think it has been foreshadowed. Let's just say that the discrimination goes both ways from both parties of swordsman and mages.

it is even worse once you realize he is named after a sword himself (Durandal was the sword of Roland, a Viking that served Charlemagne)This is so bad, so full of tropes and "Durandal Magia Blade", could you get more chuni than that?... i love it!... barely a 5, probably less... but who cares if you are still reading chapters you know very well what you are subscribing for.
That'll be next chapterI'm really surprised he actually enrolled, and they didn't pull some goofy "ohoho, you missed the entrance ceremony because I made you clean, so you're not actually a student!!!" plot point.
