I don't think this arc was unnecessary. It shows how Arata is changing from a perspective different than Nishino's. Tsuzuri is someone who knows him from a time when he was a total outsider, so her's is an important point of view. The arc also shows how Arate is not only dealing with his new feelings but also accepting them.
Thank you for the translation!

I honestly think ot resolved fairly well. She was merely trying to save face in front of the guy she loved, but in her heart she already knows what's happen. With an act of fate, those feelings are were pushed the forefront. I like it.

I'm sure we'll be getting back to our usual messy shenanigans next chapter, but Inhope she shows up a few times in the future as well- as a full supporting character even.

I mean, it does fit her not to give up, if anything she's much mor stubborn and determined than the leads, I think her ultimately giving up is a way for her to have a reason to keep interacting with him while also making it clear she's no longer aiming for a romantic relationship.

You had short hair, you was never gonna win... It still sucks that you port your heart out to him and he has someone else he likes:meguuusad:

I... don't really care...
She should have been just his friend, not in love with him. I really don't care about her romantic subplot.

It was well done, but still, I'm not here for a doomed romance of a background character, I'm here for the proper romance of the two protagonists!

When the poetry and romance makes sense. Not this wishy-washy can't decide crap. I love you, I hate you, I love you, I hate you. It just gets old really quick.
Have you ever encountered a challenge in life where you're like "I totally got this! Wait and see!" and that dose of reality has a delayed hit? She doesn't hate him, she was confident; but reflecting on her momento as the wind takes it away from her, she seriously thinks to herself "oh, I actually don't have a shot, do I?" And she starts crying when she genuinely decides that maybe it just isn't possible.

Was this side story necessary? Not really. This manga is a story of self-growth, and this has nothing to do with his self-growth outside of him choosing a girl who challenges him over a girl that placates him.

If you went from "I am not giving up" to depression in the span of an hour. Your mental stability is very bad. Because most deal with it slowly. then it hits usually a day or a week after. This is to help the mind to fully process the situation. If you process too fast means if a random thought such as offing someone just because they made you mad. You are more inclined to actually do it. Without seeing the results of such thoughts. If you off someone you go to jail, people see you as a monster, you turn on friends and family because you're afraid of them turning you in, and a lot more depending on your situation.

This is not hate. I am genuinely concerned for you. Please seek help and talk about it. The best way to stop yourself is to talk with others. If you can't talk at least stop yourself from any actions until you properly process the situation. I wish you the best 👍

This reads to me like an overly mechanical model of how people are "supposed" to process emotion. Real reactions aren't scheduled. Sometimes something takes weeks to sink in; sometimes you're fine until you walk around the corner and then immediately fall apart. Neither by itself tells you much about someone's mental stability.

I never said it was to process emotions. Are you okay? I said situation which can cause emotional responses. So you never reflect on your past actions? But you never addressed the problem with going fast. I was basically saying slow down and think. And if you can't see how this effects your mental stability. (going fast) then I feel sorry for you. And everyone that has to interact with you. 😬
