I think it depends on how "strong" their current personality is. If we look at Ryuunosuke, Hideyoshi, and Date, even without past memories, they already have strong personality and will to begin with, so the additional past memories and personality is just simply adding another layer to themselves, and not overpowering the original self. Maria, on the other hand, is very meek, and we all know how famously intensed and scary Nobunaga is, so dude literally pushes Maria to the back seat and takes control of the wheel.
