From Nicole POV, she isn't against giving him a chance, but she doesn't trust him to not reverse back to his old way.

Yeah no this is why I dislike him. i mentioned in a previous comment: he's a coward. He chose to bury his head in the sand and run away instead of actually trying to solve the issue. What, did he think he could just avoid her until he stopped feeling jittery around her? Because then he'd be avoiding her until they're both old and wrinkly. He should've tried getting used to spending time with her (ESPECIALLY SINCE THE ACADEMY LITERALLY ENCOURAGES YOUNG ENGAGED COUPLES TO DO JUST THAT???) and its his own behavior that caused her to fall out of love with him.
