Not to entirely defend him, but I appreciate the story told so far. Jealously, priorities, taking things for granted are vulnerable aspects. It probably helps that he's never been truly unfaithful, but the severity of the neglect she's experience despite escort and accompaniment being social STANDARDS at the time is emotional abuse. He's repenting it now, and I wholly agree that I would love this story to pieces if she was given the position of no longer being obligated to be with him. If the two were to come together after everything- it would be the ultimate story of female agency! But considering the genre and the difficulty of portraying a incompatible 'nice' guy- we have to wait for more chapters for things to truly be concrete.

Squirm bitch, squirm.

I wonder if it's meant to be social commentary for Kaios's only real hold on Nicole being their patriarchal society? Like, he really is treating her like a possession, no matter where his feelings on the matter fall.

Well, Princess Caroline. If you wanna help your homie out, better reform the entirety of your country so Nicole doesn't feel compelled to leave. Or at least less so.

Yeah, all his friends still make time for their fiancee, and he's always beside the princess? And when in the ballroom he still only beside the princess and never checked his fiancee even once?

I think I'm dropping this series, watching Keios being frustratingly dense for no reason other than to force the plot to happen is miserable. You cannot tell me that any normal functioning human would act this way, even worse, what the heck are the other 3 doing? Do they no see him literally making grimacing faces after trying literally trying to dip? Is it really that beyond human courtesy to ask "what's wrong?". I get Nicole not giving a shit, but the crown prince and the princess should at least have some modicum of interest to this important person in front of them acting weird. It feels extremely convoluted and not in a way which makes an engaging story, quite the opposite, all it makes me think is that no matter how much things improve, forced conflict like this will tear them apart.
