I was pretty surprised when I went away for a few days and my cat was so vocal and clingy when I came back. I don't think it was specifically my presence she missed, but at least someone familiar and at least semi-present. She just wasn't used to being alone all day, aside from my neighbors dropping in to feed and change the litter.
