With the new embedded comments feature, an extra click is now required to create forum threads, so I may as well lay the bed to get things rolling. Might be a good opportunity for me to relay minor comments on the chapter that don't fit with the Gourmet Notes.

This chapter shows off how much Kariya loves etymology and wordplay. We saw a hint of it in Volume 24, where a good part of the story is about the origins of the word 'curry', then again in Volume 26, when he explained the word 'okashi' (confectionery).
It's something he'll continue to do every now and then. Sometimes it's actual etymology, sometimes it's just assigning meaning after the fact. It's fun either way, and I hope you'll keep an eye out for whenever Kariya does it.

Yamaoka talking all that about feeling sorry for the people making the nori crisp when the fact that it's plastic packed nori in a cheap diner means it's factory dried and processed. It won't be charcoal-dried nori like what the artist made at his dinner. Well, at least he taught Tomii something.

Got curious about the Gochisō etymology, and apparently he isn't making that up. It really does originate it "rush around". Basically like "I appreciate you taking such effort to gather the ingredients and prepare this feast".
