My girlfriend and I watched this episode of the anime a few weeks ago, and the commentary during it got quite heated from her end (she's a cat person) and her instinct was to get very angry that Koizumi wouldn't take the cat to a vet to get a check up to make sure there wasn't some other underlying health issue other than just picky eating.

Yea I would assume my cat is sick instead of being gourmet. Jesus what kind of cat can only enjoy sun dried fresh fish. It aint cheap even for human consumption and i live in a country next to the sea.

I think the reason the chapter is the way it is is because of the manga's very food-centered take on anything. Is someone pissed? Soothe them with food. Are they dying from terminal illnesses? Food is the answer.

I know your daily food intake can very much affect your health, but this manga's treatment of food as a panacea to just any issue, from terminal illnesses to racism, is just funny to me, especially when it's only logical to go to the doctor/vet to see if there's anything actually wrong.
