I mean, this might be what you're hinting at, but it seems insane for them to think that it's a good idea to have Tokuichi present these tofus as his own cooking and then revealing to Kaibara that it's Yamaoka's idea and that they intentionally deceived him... I'm assuming everything will work out anyway because whenever Kurita and Yamaoka are shown to be fully aligned they usually get the win, but it just seems like such a dumb idea.
I'll touch on the resolution itself in the coming chapter. With this one, I was more taking a little jab at the presented character motivations.
Tokuichi gets the most noble motivation of them all, being that it's linked to his skill as a culinary artist and also resolves his family drama.
Oda's motivation is a bit slimier, but he gets a soft pass just for being the friend of the main character.
Takako doesn't get anything. Her motivation as presented last chapter was to help her father and find purpose in her tofu-making work. It becomes pretty clear here that she's just an object to be won by Oda, which I think is a disappointing direction to take (but a direction that's consistent with how Kariya writes his women).
I've made peace with it at this point, but I feel like poking fun at it sometimes.
