@Kisato I meant it more in terms of his being originally a loner with no expectations of the world, and being generally benevolent and unselfish. The idea of sacrificing himself in a lonely way for the benefit of those he cares about comes naturally. It's still the wrong move, but it's his kind of wrong move.
This gives the same feel of Yanderer Kanojo, though they are not the same plot at all. It must the be gag rom-com to serious shift. To bad, because that shift was the beginning of the end to one of my favorites at the time.
Ohh look, another entertainment version that perfectly showcases why I hate the common reporter.
@Milamber
Did you no longer like Yandere Kanojo after that plot shift? I personally still loved it. One of my favorites. This one is slightly more understandable and while I agree the development is sudden and distressing, we all know how this is going to end, and it certainly isn't an unreasonable development.
I didn't mind it much at the time because there was still some comedy in the manga. There had been a gradual shift from gag comedy to rom-com during the run of the story anyway. I just wish it had lasted another 50 or hundred chapters, but that was not to be. It was only after it was clear the series was ending that I found I did not like the shift, again, simply because it was the beginning of the end.
