NGL, the security in this castle is completely borked.

A little kid is free to roam around and even encounters the sickly second prince without interference. She then proceeds to not only cook him food but hand deliver it and feed it too him as well...

Then elsewhere you have an A or B Ranked adventurer fumbling around like a headless chicken searching random rooms, vases, and hallways for something....

Whoever trained the security staff needs replaced, and said staff needs additional harsh reeducation...

Security are usually around the gate, walls, security post/room and main area centers. Beyond that, especially inside private quarters, it’s quite believable that there are no visible guards. And besides a 6 year old girl isn’t usually the threat they’re there for, perhaps quite the opposite being an indicator that there is a guest visiting. Although the maids and the chef should probably have said something.

So you're saying the maids and servants are not part of palace security? That the guards don't regularly patrol the interior because it's thought safe? That there wouldn't be a guard or three at entrances to exterior spaces nor corridors leading too or from the inner palace that holds bedrooms and the outter palace spaces like the meeting rooms, dining halls, servant's quarters, kitchens, and any of a hundred other internal spaces that are regularly frequented by palace staff.....

Sounds like an open invitation for just about any assassin, thief, or spy...

Adding to this, it's also weird that the important guests, the prince's guests, don't have any guards or at least a maid to make sure they will be fine or to take care of them if they have something they want to ask for. It seems that there is a lack of available staff.

The best place IMHO is here.
Let her cook, for the 2nd prince so he can recover.
In turn she'll have stable job being personal royal chef or something.

Maids and servants aren’t expected to fight/subdue intruders (at most tell security about it). While it’s possible for guards to guard bathrooms and rooftop entrances, it’s usually less important than guarding ground entrance points (including patrols) on the first and maybe the second floor. It could happen, but under more threatening circumstances. However like Mitsu13 said it’s odd that he is without any staff for that long in his condition.

NGL, I see that as rather negligent.

Maids and servants wouldn't necessarily fight or even confront, unknown individuals, unless trained to do so, but they would definitely be required to report any obvious anomalies like a random adventurer who was frantically searching rooms and hallways, or a small seemingly lost child.

OTOH, no one is advocating that someone should guard the bathroom like a complete and utter moron, they would guard important intersections that separate the outer palace which is available to ministers and nobles from the secure areas of the palace like the armory, the throne room, or the inner palace which holds the royal living quarters.

And while you don't place much value on guarding a garden entrance, if it is an external space accessible via an unsecured door, it needs a guard. Even if said guards are on the wall that surround the guarden.
