Wow. What a journey this manga is... Definitely dissappointed that Utsumi's mother origin and how Utsumi's parent past never got explored completely, but ehh.. I don't really mind it. Utsumi and Hiiyama daughter arc is also good and perfectly executed.

It was like a tiny hint of the magical realism literature genre. Like, there's magic, but magic is not the focus of the story and nobody really makes a big deal out of it.
Despite the end lacking a bit, it was still great. To show how their child wanted to learn more about themselves truly showed just how much the two loved and cared for her and in turn their child is able to be interested in themselves not just out of curiosity but embracing her identity

well that's for sure, like the staple for magical realism is in 100 years of solitude and the last big thing is the kid with the pig tail, so for sure the author took a note from there.
it would take from the focus of the story as it shows the importance of self love, acceptance and taking care of the actual people/family that is there for you.

Even if you're strange, someone will love you completely; even if you were dealt a bad hand in life, you'll find your place in life; even if you grow up, you'll still all be friends. There's a pervading sense in this manga that understanding and kindness is how humans are able to bear life, at all.
To me: this is quite really a perfect manga, 10/10
