Its rather annoying they are playing off the Chinese repeating crossbow as this good. Its rapid fire is a solid strong point, but its accuracy and power are trash. It was pretty much only able to scratch people, and as such was always used with poisoned bolts as without poison it just couldn't even really harm enemies. Add in that do to the lever that is used to both reload and fire being rapidly moved you can't hold it steady at all to aim, and the way it drops the bolts in results in inconsistencies that cause bolts to fire in very random ways. It also had a very bad jamming problem as bolts could get jammed into the front of the clip resulting in a need to replace the clip as a bolt is now puncturing into it.

Not to say you are wrong about the IRL version, but when it is crafted from fantasy materials and enchanted with magic you can't really judge it by its IRL counterparts. Sure by all means tear into them if they are claiming it is an exact copy, but the MC doesn't mention it's origins nor much more then basic functionality. So the comparison just falls flat.
