I'm guessing that for plot's sake, people have for the most part forgotten Japanese mythology otherwise there's no way people with fully Japanese names wouldn't know what a kitsune is.

I like how thou usedst a more accurate version of the archaic "thou" in her speech, but something thou didst not mention that is that verbs following "thou" are usually conjugated differently from usual. Usually, thou wilt just add "-est" or "-st," but there are some exceptions. (Like "are" -> "art," "have" -> hast," &c.) The Wikipedia page has a good description that thou canst reference.
