So... my "theory" is a complete miss eh? I've been reading too many romcoms, I suppose.
Then again, it easily falls apart if Chiaki isn't really into Renjou to begin with.
Previously, I thought Chiaki had a motive to kill Sahara, because she's a yandere eliminating a love rival for Renjou. :aquadrink:

Based on this chapter, Sahara is the cause of Michi's accident.
New theory time: Chiaki is late, she witnesses the accident and gets blamed as a "murderer"... starting years of traumatic guilt that almost drives her insane.

So we could say that at present,
  • Kenta somehow knows Sahara is the cause, and that's why he trashes tributes to him at the intersection
  • Kenta covers for Chiaki, because he knows Sahara is the real culprit
  • Sahara is probably an unreliable narrator, and that makes it possible that Chiaki didn't actually push him:
    • He subconsciously reached out to Michi at the intersection out of guilt and was killed in a true accident.
    • Chiaki's raised hands that he saw were from an attempt to pull him back, not push him.
If this is true, it lines up with what Taku says about him falling down the stairs by himself, and not because Chiaki pushed him too.

If not true, then Chiaki is still the one who killed Sahara... but why? Did she go crazy from years of trauma related to Michi's accident and finally pushed him for revenge because he was the culprit?

I guess the reason Kenta is dropping out of the match now, is because Michi finally woke up from her coma. If there's anyone who can clear Chiaki's name, it's Michi.
