I seem to remember an ultrasound, but the author didnt show what was on the screen. With the little girl playing on the balcony, we finally find out what the child's sex is.

Doesn't have to be a girl, though it seems likely, I routinely get surprised by japanese names that I used to identify as female/male being used for the opposite sex.

It would seem that before Oku-san will give birth her mom will show up out of nowhere (much to her chagrin) and will have to settle such drama between them in the future.
Hopefully this gets addressed next chapter properly instead of dilly dallying around, but tbh I'm fine with that outcome too

Probably her mom is dead, this author seems to like having very sentimental scenes with dead parents. The one in the shared-universe Ashitaba-san Chi series made me cry...
