With this, I'm genuinely convinced that these types of mangakas who were extremely popular in the 2010s in general contributed greatly to the decreasing birth rate of Japan. In real life, if you make anybody wait years for you, chances are, they won't. I think there are a lot of real life examples of this where the odds are heavily weighed against you if you make them wait. I had a friend who had a long distance with a girl in NY, and he was literally in CA, across the entire US, for college. They had a long history, said they couldn't live without each other, acted like they were the most in love of all time, and the girl cheated on him in 3 months of not seeing each other.
In Korea, you get this all the time. Back in the days, you had to stay in military training for like 2.5 years, nowadays around 1.5 years or less since the war is never gonna happen, but there are like... countless stories of promising girls the guys will be back, and the girl moved on within a year.
Just to be clear, there are equally as many examples of guys cheating in similar circumstances, say they're in a working situation far away. It just so happened my personal examples were women, don't use this as an opportunity for misogyny.
Don't treasure shit. Physicality is a pretty core aspect of relationships. You gotta have sex and know if you're physically compatible with a person if you're thinking of long term, it's not the other way around. This is why people say long distance don't work, and these mangakas keep writing incel ass relationships where they pussyfoot dating for years in a will they won't they. Sets such a bad example for the JP kids, and even people overseas
