This is one thing that never fails to annoy me about any given series; having the MC pine over some girl who obviously isn't the female lead, who he obviously won't end up with in the end, just to drop her in favor of the FMC, who has been neglected and distanced, is so incredibly annoying and contrived. It's the same problem with Watari-kun and other mange like it. The FMC is neglected, the MC ending up liking her feels contrived, and the manga has wasted so much time and effort on a throwaway character for whatever stupid reason.
