Half Light [Easy - Success] - Look at this asswipe, talking so positively of capitalism as if it's the single greatest thing on earth. The pompous know-it-all holier-than-thou stance he took shows he knows not a single clue how it feels to live life under the poverty line! Do it Harry, show him the reality. Deconstruct all his points, show his cushy tushy what it really means to live as a communist!

You - What the fuck Half Light, this is a manga site

Half Light - What are you, a pussy? Do it!

Your comment is absolutely true, people often are idealizing the pre-market economy era. But most of them wouldn't even be there if it wasn't thanks to this cause we were only 1 billion (with a lot of europeans).
It's not the fault of "capitalism" if they are starving, in a matter of fact you can look where people are starving so most likely either Africa or middle-East, then you can look on ourworldindata (https://ourworldindata.org/population-growth) that their population skyrocketed THANKS TO CAPITALISM AND THE OCCIDENT'S HELP. Yet they don't seem to be self-sufficient and for many of them very corrupted and failed societies. Too bad, assume that we send them even more money, how can you be sure that it won't be taken by the corrupted government or that they'll just do more kids, coming back in the same trap (hello Malthus) ? I'm not even talking about the disastrous incentive that it would be, indeed if you see money or food coming out of the blue you may not search to develop.
It's not the fault of richs or whatever, only failed governments and failed societies.

By the way, inequalities can be really good providing some circumstances yet they are reducing between countries (The Elephant curve, https://ourworldindata.org/the-history-of-global-economic-inequality) thanks to the free market.
Sry talked to much, thanks for the trad sir.

something something over-taxation that affects lower income people and small businesses more than high income/big business thereby making artificial caste systems. honestly i'm not even sure pure capitalism is an issue so long as monopolies are prevented or stopped. and this is coming from a guy who thinks UBI could be a better idea than how current welfare and unemployment systems currently work. >_<

I'm very skeptical of government legislation being used to keep corporations from making adverse decisions to the detriment of the common man.

A government is only as strong as the people in it. Our legislators are easily manipulated thanks to powerful interests groups and think tanks that influence public policy to keep their wealth. As corporations grow, simple legislation to combat their interests are simply thrown away into the trash.

We are already seeing that with Big Tech companies telling the EU to fuck off, and they were only trying to make the digital economy fairer. It's only going to get worse from here...

Big Tech to EU: "Drop Dead"

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/05/big-tech-eu-drop-dead
Big Tech companies are trying to resist the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA), which aims to enforce interoperability and open up their platforms to competitors. This legislation would reduce the power of these companies by making it easier for users to switch services without losing their data or connections. The companies are likely lobbying against these regulations to maintain their monopolistic control and avoid the competition and operational changes that interoperability would bring.
Corporations will get bigger, governments will become subservient to the stakeholders' interests, and the people will probably be livestock for the 1%.

Well, they tried some kind of UBI in my country, but after a few years it was clear that it wasn't sustainable in the long run, because, as you may imagine, it costs a lot of money (even though it was available only to some people). UNIVERSAL basic income may be impossible right now, at least for most countries. Even if we manage to tax 90% of ultra rich people's wealth, I believe. I do believe that a better redistrubution of wealth is certainly possible. In other words, time to tax Apple, Microsoft, Google, Netflix, AirBnB and all the other suckers more!

yeah bro it so cool how all those modern inventions were created by [check notes] ownership of capital and unequal distribution of wealth. totally and definitely created modern society bro, for sure. Edison invented the lightbulb and Henry Ford invented the internal combustion engine for sure dog, they definitely weren't just extracting wealth from labor while doing fuckall.

What a bunch of ignorant bullshit. Guess I'll come back to this when a translator who isn't a Fox News mong picks it up.

Do that and America will stop trading with you, and they would be right to do so. UBI is better than the regular benefits, just put it at 1/5 of the price of the minimum wage and it'd be a great thing.

Nah, I don't think so. Even the USA are increasing taxation on those companies, they need money too.

The obliviousness of the translator is really interesting, not only is he proudly defending capitalism with irrelevant and wrong statistics, but he's doing so while translating a fascist manga that explicitly rejects capitalism and its modernity, wanting to go back to inexistent natural state. Did he also already forgot the last chapter? Manga and videogames who he praises are defined as "comfort"(slave morality) by his Omega hero. Unsurpisingly a power fantasy for losers is read by losers.

I don't know where you're from but there is not that much money to gain from their taxation. It's normal, you can only tax the money that is made in YOUR COUNTRY, thus they seem really rich but you won't get enough to do anything.
In my country you won't even finance 1/5 of the deficit of the State and it may repercute on the consumers.
Imo it's delusional, I can understand that you'd like this field to be fairer but you won't pay for the millions of improductives with this is impossible. And taxing the rest of the companies as well will just transform your country into shitty third world country where you'll all be poors, your choice.

Extrem poverty is indeed decreasing and every part of the world are getting out of poverty (China since the free-market, South-east Asia right now, south-America etc.), you should look at the daily income per capita according to years on this article https://ourworldindata.org/the-history-of-global-economic-inequality. I wait your statistics that are not irrelevant but imo it seems like the usual high coping from socialists when you show them what happens when you let the free-market do its job (crushing poverty, destroying child's work and so).

It's true that this manga explicitly rejects capitalism and its modernity, wanting to go back to inexistent natural state. So what ? It's a fiction, you socialists are so lost that's why no one likes you (and that you are all over internet). I can read a fiction for 2 hours without thinking about my shitty political opinion while you don't seem to be able to because it never crossed your mind that the traductor may be doing that.

Poverty measured by wages is nonsense. Actual poverty has increased and will be continue to do so. No China as actually not eliminated poverty despite its claims and Argentina right now under the "free market" has more poor people than ever. You are either out of reality or have actual economic interest in masquerading this like the IMF or the UN

This is incomprensible. You too are on the internet and just mande a political comment. Fiction is political and both this manga and the translator are explicitly so, please snap out of your fantasy world and stop speaking nonsense.

That article was last 2017... It's not like some black swan event occurred last 2020 which were exploited by the rich to increase their wealth.

If 2022 was a year of uncertainty, 2023 is the year of inequality. For countries hoping to bounce back from the devastating losses of the COVID-19 pandemic, the battle has been made tougher by the compounding threats of climate change, fragility, conflict and violence, or food insecurity, to name a few—that make it difficult for economies across the board to fully recover.

As with most crises, it’s the world’s poorest countries that are getting hit the hardest. Many of these countries, already in debt distress, find themselves even more squeezed for resources. Online gig work is a vital aspect of the labor market and a source of income—but only for those who can access it. And let’s not forget today’s refugee crisis. Better migration policies can not only help alleviate the crisis—they can also help boost economic growth and prosperity.
