I understand this is just manga, but if it were reality I'd hope that at a certain point her friends/family would step in and mediate an explanation before things got too far.

Despite the weirdness of it all, this still is apparently his most successful series of marriage hunting meetings. He actually hasn't been unhappy meeting her, despite the monk helmet, and is getting more and more excited about seeing her face for the first time. It's unfortunate there is the being toyed with aspect, but at least there are no ill intentions. If he can understand and accept that, when her indentity gets revealed, there are good chances they will be a happy could couple, regardless of how unusual this all was.
