THERE'S A SEQUEL? HELL FUCKING YEAH!
Well it only has 6 chapters but still.
Also, the ending was actually pretty good for a romance. What we got here across the last 6 chapters is usually packed into the last 2.

Sad it got the axe, but was very enjoyable. I'm hella willing to forgive the basket thing being absurd cause it gave us nice moments like this in the end.

Sequel

Bet the bed didn't withstand that night.

I'm surprised nobody checked the author's twitter to find the sequel since it was readily available, but I'm glad that was the case so I could pull some kind of a surprise.

In the sequel the author goes into this as well but this manga was unfortunately canceled due to poor sales. It sold poorly from the onset and thus never had what it took to last. This is the third manga from this author that was canceled (Omoi-san was too in case you didn't know).

For those unfamiliar, at least with monthly physical manga, 3 volumes is what you generally expect to get if your first volume doesn't sell well, particularly with less popular authors. If you ever find 3 volume manga where the ending feels a little lackluster or rushed, like the story still had much to tell, that's a good indication that it was a manga that sold poorly and the author knew the axe was coming and had to dig up a conclusion.

As for personal thoughts on this series, I was genuinely a fan of it, particularly the post-confession moments. Even teared up a bit at the end. But I do think the basket gimmick overstayed its welcome in the first 2 volumes. In hindsight, when you see how adorable they are as a couple, it feels a little sad that at least half of the manga wasn't cute couple moments like this.

I commend the author for sticking to the premise he came up with, he did the same with Omoi-san, but in my opinion it was ultimately working in detriment of the manga at a certain point because the suspension of disbelief was ridiculous and nothing was really moving forward. I really, really think this could have been adjusted to be more popular and give us more cuteness but alas this is what we got. If it was in an online publication readers might have been kinder to it and the sales numbers might have mattered less as well.

Tomorrow I'll post all 6 chapters of the sequel doujin, which amount to 30 pages total. I will warn you not to expect too much from it since it was a manga the author drew for free on twitter, but it is still a cute sequel giving us a glimpse into their married life. It's 1/4 author commentary on his dealings with manga serialization.

As mentioned in a TL note a while back, I'll also most likely work on the author's very first manga, the origin story of Mikogami-senpai, since she cameos in all his other manga as a goofy plushie.

With that out of the way, have a good day!
All you said is true, but at the same time a lot of romcoms are WAY slower and still goes on for years. Probably some level of luck is involved too (or fanservice? 🙄).

Anyway, not every story is made to last a lot, so I'll say that maybe just one volume more would have made it the perfect "size" to show more of them after becoming a couple and what changed at work (imagining that once registered they would come clean to the colleagues).
Not much, just enough to give the opera more breath

Thanks for the tl and looking forward to the sequel
