It's just fine because the dude is what he is. He never really expressed aloud his own throughts about the whole situation. He agreed to the engagement out of pity for Arisa. You might say he did miss her a little bit after his foot healed enough and she stopped coming over, but it felt like he would have got over it soon enough. In fact I could go as far as to say he objected to the marriage interview, thinking it interferes with his life and his own freedom in pursuing romance, but in reality it didn't really look like he would have necessarily pursued romance on his own, nor even had any plans to. After all, if he really intended to, he wouldn't have agree to enter the (fake) relationship with Arisa. Since he entered it, it means he doesn't have any romantic aspirations outside of it, despite the current one being fake.

This continues to remind me so much of The Angel Next Door especially with the two main characters explicitly stating they are not romantically interested in each other. I can believe that they legitimately feel that way right now. But just because they say that doesn't mean it's permanently set in stone, especially as they continue to spend time together. The more they spend time together in a positive/constructive/productive way (even as friends), the higher likelihood they can develop a bond and the more memories they can share.
