"Thinking that, for the next three years, even looking at her from afar won't be allowed..." is a really weird sentence. Is he trying to say that for the next three years he won't have to only look at her from afar?

I assume she'd be fine if they shared the same grave together, or if he wanted to make as many children as a football team. Then again, it's one of the questions I really wouldn't like to know the answer to.
