Yes.

In 2nd grade elementary school few kids took my hand between a door frame and shut it, can bend fingers till now in odd angle, was bullied till 4th grade because my name sounded foreign, it was similar to names from a country that occupied us for 40 years.
Nobody took my side, nobody told anything because they most likely knew the bullies will come after them.
Decked one of bullies in the face in 4th grade, cutting his lip, suddenly everyone saw that and was expelled for "aggressive behaviour", bullying continued in another school this time also because being depressed gained few kilos, called me Ms.Piggy.

After going to highschool had a brief moment of peace, but even though the HS was 10km across the town, rumours passed on and shit started over again. Literally everyone seen it.

This is a kind of group mentality.

Kitahara is absolutely right, Kurosawa CHOSEN his path to be bullied, she didn't.

Her having friends can't magically stop being bullied, forgiving bullies for them bullying her is idiotic at best, her being heartbroken tho' can be changed but for the rest it's fiction.

In reality, her being a shut-in but suddenly acting all cheerful won't suddenly stop bullying.

I am a bit annoyed by hos Kurosawa says "I understand now." because clearly he doesn't. It was his choice to become the onani master, his choice to reveal his dirt, his choice to endure getting bullied. Meanwhile Kitahara just happened to be an easy target. Not to mention the existence of Brocobro, Kitahara does not have that. It's her vs. the world, so no you do not understand.

I feel so bad for kitahara here, kurosawa was so in the wrong believing that their the same.
Her hostility and malice doesn't stem from perverted and lustful hatred but rejections against misogynstic societal standards.
Kurosawa was given a friendgroup, a bestfriend, and even a girl that was friends with him. But Kitahara has none of that before meeting Naogako. It's hard for her integrating in a society that is hostile towards her while kurosawa has the privledge to act aloof with this otaku friends.
Yes kitahara does take fault in enabling kurosawa's SA, but it was Kurosawa's choice to be a pervet. HIS choice to jerk off in the girls restroom. HIS choice to defile those girls. HIS choice to agree with the deal instead of confessing early on. Kitahara's deal was just another reason for Kurosawa to "justify" his sexual acts.
While they do both face harsh backlash, Kitahara is struggling way more due to being a fragile introverted girl, while kurosawa still has people that care about him.

But the things is, it's about whether you want to change or not, i still remember that Takigawa also used to be the same as Kitahara minus the bullying part, but somehow this is just how the world will act towards those who can stand for themself.

Kitahara situation is unfortunate indeed, but she cannot expect for some angel and guardian appear out of nowhere and made her life easier, and that's what make it more realistic for me.

World is cruel sometimes, but also there's so many small things that we can appreciate, we might be stranger communicating online, but do not hesitant to reach out, or talk about something if you wanted to, it's not much but i genuinely believe it will help you feeling better.
