Yakiniku: from doing a bit of research, there's a certain order of how you're supposed to eat and what kinds of meats you should start off with. Salty and simple to digest meats first (like ox tongue), sirloin roast cuts (stuff which is lighter and has less sauces), followed by the big boys like fatty pork belly and kalbi, kalbi, kalbi. Having the simpler stuff first means that they won't need to change the grill as quickly, so the metal grill doesn't need to go through the heating up process again when you want to get into the main cuts of meat.

And again we see Foreman point out the atmosphere of the shop being a major factor on how it affects the food. I like these parts, we don't think about it much but it's important, huh.

The end part with the collab stuff...it seems that the mangaka is pretty good at using this manga as well as "Tonegawa" as adspace, as a lot of you have noticed in past chapters and threads.

Yukhoe is a Korean steak tartare served cold, seasoned with garlic, onions, nuts, seeds, spring onions, etc.

There's a lot of metaphors and similes as well as 4-character idioms used in this chapter. The narrator (mangaka) uses them to paint the scene, while at other times it's Foreman who uses them and this adds to the complexity and intelligence of his character throughout the manga.

Luckily some of these have direct and literal translations:
右往左往: getting tossed around left and right
手伝い:to help, literally give a hand

this last part is a pun, in Japanese these simple ones usually made by older men are called "oyaji gags". I'm not very good at these because they need you to be able to identify the kanji in your head as well as match the onomatopoeia to it in real time, which is why zoomers nowadays trend towards catchphrases and stuff and dislike puns.

So here, the line is 人は主、肉は従 (hito wa shyu, niku wa jyu)
and the next rectangle says ジュウジュウ (jyuu jyuu) which is the sizzling sound of meat
and I don't know if there's a better alternative, but I led into the word "serve" with the sizzling sound of meat in "TSssss-" to keep the same effect going

In the words of great swindler Kaiki from Monogatari, meat is all you need!

What a comfy chapter and what great TL notes, it's nice to see the concept of dad jokes transcends cultures so deep it even goes into the name for those kinda puns

I want meat :<

very well timed, I just went for AYCE yakiniku last night lol. we didn't eat the meat in any order tho, it was just a free-for-all
Hmm, one regret I have about when I was younger was that I wasn't adventurous enough with food. Now that I'm a bit older, everything I eat is going to catch up to me the next day where I'm feeling full and sluggish. I would've liked to try the intestines, offal and tripe a bit more as opposed to the normal cuts

I read that he got a box of candy from Bourbon after the Bourbon Draft chapter, and several Tonegawa chapters are literally ads. There's also the chapter where he's promoting One Cut of the Dead...
What a winner. How can one man write so many good chapters just talking about whatever food or place he liked AND get rewarded in food for it

I decided to reread all of the top JP-voted chapters and I think this one ends up being my favourite. That first page is a work of art, you can just about taste the humanity of it.
