Oda even said it himself in an interview, that his eyes are getting worse so he can‘t draw clean details anymore. It‘s very obvious if you just compare the artwork from, say, Alabasta to now. You could actually tell back then what is going on in fights! xD Nowadays it‘s just scribbles most of the time.

I think the people hating on me are just GenZ or Alpha who started reading One Piece Post-TS and have no emotional connection to the first part of the story.
I started One Piece in 2001, when there wasn‘t even proper scanlations yet. One Piece was a masterpiece. I still love it (see my profile pic) and it‘s still better than 90% of manga, but boy, the degradation is brutal. Oldschoolers like me know it.
Oda completely shits on the Strawhats Post-TS, it doesn‘t feel like their adventure anymore. He gives the story no room to breath, to have laid-back adventures and interactions between the SH anymore. And yeah the artwork went from the best in the industry (imo) to a Rorschach test.
And introducing a character like Imu that late in the story, as the main villain, and he is a fucking simp, is an absolute insult to long-time fans like me.

How the mighty have fallen…
funniest thing is i started reading may last year lol so idk their excuse

I think I get what you mean, even if I wouldn't be that harsh about it. I personnally feel the plot is rushing everywhere now, and above all it's harder for me to understand the panels with the way it's drawn.

But isn't simply the problem of Oda's condition ? Even if he's still quite young, we know he seems to have some illness troubles.
Didn't he realized he created such a huge story that he may die before being able to finish it, so he's rushing a bit now to be able to do it ?

Oh, and to me Imu's late appearance point one of the best thing in this manga. The world and the story are that rich that even after years of reading it with a lot of fun, you are still discovering important chars. Do you also realize that we still haven't seen the real power of Monkey D. Dragon ?

The problem is, that Oda is simultaneously rushing and dragging. Rushing the overall story, but once we are in the middle of the arc, the great running/waiting begins and nothing gets done for dozens of chapters.
He needs an editor with balls who tells him off.

Imu‘s appearance would be okay if there were hints that such a character exists. But there weren‘t. Oda clearly invented him late in the story because he wanted a big evil individual in the end fight. Lame storytelling imo.

Dragon was clearly replaced by Sabo, narratively. I don‘t expect too much of Dragon anymore.
