Ah, so that's why the fishmen were called the Sun Pirates, they based it off of Sun God Nika being a liberator of slaves. Not sure if that was mentioned somewhere before or not, it's been literal years.

Kuma knowing about Nika adds another layer to his meeting with Luffy. Was he aware of Luffy being Nika all along? Regardless he knows or not he helped SH to grow stronger, as if helping Luffy and the rest becomes the hero of rebellion that Kuma always dreamed of. He also sacrificing himself protecting SH ship during the timeskip.

reading this again but on my computer really shows how bad these slaves had it. they fucking gouged clapp's left eye out and gave him multiple lacerations. it's pretty brutal torture to have to suffer after they killed his wife, i'm surprised he still could have faith until his final breath that the sun god would come to rescue them so long as they didn't give up hope. makes me feel even more for kuma after everything he went through.
