For those who never owned a dog and intends to get one:
Dog toy's life expectancy is based on it's durability and the dog that owns it. Third of my dogs made the toy an one use event while the other 2/3s allowed us to clean and patch it up. The rubbery dog toys with the compression squeakers are the dog's favorite with the shortest life span (they love to "kill" it enough to get at the squeaker), followed by stuffed animals, thinner rope tugs, thin pure rubber toys, thicker rope tugs (this competes with the compression squeaker toys for a dog's favorite), thicker pure rubber toys, and car tire for durability from my experience. Stuffed animals are dirt cheap from garage sales, just make certain to remove the hard button eyes and decorations from it before handing it over to the dog due to it being a choking hazard.
When they say you can't buy love... has never bought a dog.
