Pretty hefty time skip. Started when Sui was 14-15 (3rd year middle school) and now we're at, I assume, 18 and just going to college (maybe older even, we'll find out).

oof, the university timeskip is the nail in the coffin for this other boy. now that she's a legal adult midori will show back up and will find no reason to turn her down (even though to me its still mega creepy if they get together. it would be the same to me as a parent's ex or a teacher showing up and dating her)

Looking at blurbs for future volumes, it certainly looks like you're right (minus the creepy part). She's even choosing a career path designed to get back with him.

As much as I've always defended this series as a simple coming-of-age tale and still think it handled Sui's first crush with sensitivity and realism, the timeskip seems to indicate we may be heading towards an age-gap ending after all, albeit a legal one. I was really rooting for Ayame too.
