its kind of hyperbolic, like the infighting created from simping will just tear the group apart like "a circle destroyer" thing (in which like some girl enters a group of guys, usually like geeks/nerds, and they begin to fight amongst themselves over who gets to be with the girl or whatever, which in turn ruins the friendships due to needless rivalry.)

It's possible, especially if the rest of the guild's a bunch of younger (or just immature) guys. They'll get jealous of each other for interacting with the girl, which destroys trust and can cause a guild to collapse. It's more likely the immature guys end up booted for acting that way if the guild's not full of them. Also quite likely the girl leaves because it's gotten really unpleasant for her.

I've not had a guild collapse because of me, but I've had some really uncomfortable situations with guys. Like one that insisted on helping me get better gear (that was fine), then wanted to grind with me (okay overall, but...) then got pissed off when I missed a message from them and left in a snit and blocked me. I wasn't upset about the block, but it wasn't a fun situation. It was creepy enough I played on different characters for a couple of weeks afterward.

On the other hand I've had people mail me stuff because I was AFKing in town and they thought my character was cute. Didn't ask for anything in return, didn't contact me otherwise, just sent me some gifts. I take screenshots of those and keep them, because I appreciate the kindness.
