this is not a TS-story, as the guy is magically transformed into a pubescent/prepubescent girl.

This is a logic flaw as TS means that you apply phenotypical alteration via surgery, which leaves the character still having the original sex but the appearance of the other sex.

So, if he became a girl, this can't be TS and vice versa (i.e. he can't become a girl if this was a TS-story).

In Japan, the tag for this genre -- i.e. the transformation of gender, usually magical or with drugs or whatever -- is "TSF". Or sometimes just "TS" when abbreviating it. In fact, every single upload on Pixiv with this particular manga has the "TSF" tag on it.

@Asriel Japan uses a blanket term called TSF (TranSexual Fiction) to refer to nearly all genderbender content. Be it genderswap, possession, skinsuit, transformation, etc. Bodyswap usually also has the TSF tag if its with the opposite sex. It doesn't line up with the Western usage of the term.

@Nermie01 I mean, that was kinda her whole plan. Get Mahiro to become non-useless. Obviously the TSF angle is deliberate, but if we roll with it "in universe" we could say she thought Mahiro wouldn't get sidetracked by otaku stuff again if she made him a girl. Especially since she knew her friend had a younger sister she could rope Mahiro into getting involved with.
(Which is totally working of course, because Mahiro feels obligated to go to school to not disappoint friends now)

@Aereus I can see what you're saying, but the genderbending could have blown up in her face big time if Mahiro had reacted differently. And even if she thought that maybe being a girl would bring him/her out of her shell more, she also did it for selfish reasons of being jealous of her friend having a little sister. Honestly, this whole situation was caused by one big misunderstanding due to a lack of communication on both of their parts. Mihiri (I think that's the sister's name?) wanting her beloved big brother to praise her by working her butt off and gathering all these accolades and whatnot.. and Mahiro slipping more and more into depression because of his too high-spec younger sister compared to his average self. I just hope that aspect of their relationship is worked out before Mahiro just agrees to become a girl permanently (which we know is bound to happen). I think Mahiro is already starting to see that he seems to have more fun and is a lot more comfortable as a girl than he wants to admit. Now Mihiri just needs to let Mahiro masturbate, hahaha.

Again, hoping for a yuri route though. XD

@VoidR don't worry there's a decent amount of gender bender out there. My personal favorite is Boku Girl, with a close second being Sekai no Hate de Aimashou
