Idk, I have only seen series dropped because of bad TL come in and snipe, never seen one where someone cares enough to go in and fix all the back trash. Like I have seen series get picked up and then because the original garbage TL exists they just ignore it.

The amount of groups who would even go back to fix their own stuff is a lot less than it should be, even when they are bigger groups. I reported to one group 2 months ago in their discord about a few pages in a chapter they didn't actually have a cleaned page and slapped the english over the korean making it either extremely hard or impossible to read some of it. They have released stuff since then and no response to my message and not bothered to fix it.

I usually don't complain unless the level of issues gets bad, a few small spelling or grammer issues is not the end of the world, but it sucks when it's pretty much every single page with issues.

It does not matter if it's free, you are using somebody's else's IP. I generally would say scanlation does not actually costs the creators much, if any money from lost sales, but bad scanlation does, it will turn people away from a work when those might become said paying fans.

And no, pumping out garbage low/no effort MTL does not help. Only if you are absolutely lucky might someone see how bad a scan is and decide to do it, but from the hundreds of series I have never seen someone pick up a series out of spite for a bad TL, if anything a bad TL will keep them away because people like you will read the garbage TL and not support their translations.

what maid-manga indonesia did in chapter 1 is an exposure, but not what rightdark did in chapter 1&2.

if you want someone to pick this up, i think there's a sub forum discussion where you can put up a post for series to be up for grabs for tl's. sadly, i searched for it but i don't know where to find the said sub forum

I agree that tossing up a somewhat rough first chapter can definitely help someone get interested and gauge interest too. But if all someone sees is the garbage translation continuing they will not stick around unless they don't care about how much of a struggle it is. There was a manhwa I used to read, I was liking it until the group scanning dropped it and it became unreadable, it had like 50+ more chapters when I was reading and I tried jumping ahead a substantial amount and it was just as bad and ya, nobody picked it up.

That was a really great translation! Here's what I loved the much:

• "streak" (?);
• the MC yelling "teeth?" after seeing the quest about killing 100 goblins;
• a man yelling "Extreme" while being hit by a goblin leprechaun.

I get that dark-something is apparently spanish, but they shouldn't try to translate something in English if they don't have at least a modicum of understanding of the English language first. What's the point?

As a person who has read so many bad translations over the years my brain has evolved to be able to translate this garbage mess.

I will say, it's not the worst out there, at least it's not so far off that you can't interpret the correct words.

Wrong, once someone translates something, no matter how god-awful it is, no one will ever go back and retranslate it. So these shitty translators/translations are erasing entire series from being properly enjoyed.

Now I don't try to be negative when people do this usually for free or as a hobby but this was really hard to read. Like the sentence structure is whack at various places, you get random words put out there like on pg 29 panel 2 the lady is yelling "Extreme," as she gets stabbed or pg 13 panel 1 she says "Streak," like what what is the context behind this. It feels like the translation was just MTL w/o any effort of proofreading. Plus the website that your group is advertising is mostly Spanish. Hate to say it but please redo this whole chapter because people are going to get completely turned off with this title or pray that another group will take over it.

I checked the raw. Streak seems to be Ichijou (MC's name). Extreme is 【がゃっ】. And then teeth is 【は？】

I'm really curious what translator they used.
