Poisonous medicine.
I wonder if the author has anything new or we will just continue to see "LOOK GUYS, MALE BAD!"
Oh also imagine if the girl lied, that would be a nice plot twist and the MCs will have to deal with their problem of believing the victim before even doing anything (or perhaps there was like some investigation and i just didn't see it cuz i only read like 9 words and 4 of them are me reading "poisonous medicine" twice.

So, Nadine was afraid to cook because she was scared of contamination from poison on her fingertips. Do test tubes exist but not medical gloves?

Well, to be fair, in the real world, medical gloves were invented around 70 years after test tubes.
and they were made because the inventor noticed his nurse wife's hands got a bit hurt as she worked, so he created them to help her.

that said, does it even need to be medical gloves? As long as it does not get in the way of the cooking even a handkerchief may have been enough to help her...

anyone calling this preachy are only saying that cuz it's issues women face that they personally don't know about and it challenges their world view.

Thank you for your incredible work translating
I think it comes off as preachy because it is a bit single minded with how the issues are presented and resolved.

That's a little unfair of you to say don't you think? I personally don't mind this manga bring very overt about it's female empowerment messages (I said before the setting is so overbearingly misogynistic that it borders on comical; and I do find it funny).

But at the same time I can also understand a reader (most likely male) thinking this manga is grossly pontificating. Any man who isn't ignorant (consciously or not) knows women's issues are very much real and relevant. They don't need this manga to constantly remind them of that or how terrible men can be.

The truth is this manga is preachy, but that's the point: it's satirical. And even though it's the point sometimes people don't like it, and that's ok. Yeah some people may be thinking what you're assuming, but it's not everyone.

I think the problem is not even that it is preachy, is that it is one-note about it.

All men are unreasonable, unless it is to condemn another man (when even unreasonable ones turn reasonable for the scene).
Every issue is caused by them, not even one problem coming from a different source.
Every man that is a problem is clearly pathetic and easily defeated, unless the party wants to prolong the humiliation.

The only exception being that masked guy and Maxwell, but that's just because masked guy is a big unknown and Maxwell is basically just MCU-before-Infinity War Thanos in his throne building up his infamy for now.

You absolutely aren't. Do you not realize you're essentially labeling readers who give a pretty valid piece of criticism as basically misogynists?

All you're doing is making an argument in bad faith. If I said I didn't like cats would you say that people like me would rather all cats die? That makes no sense and neither does your initial argument.

You're putting words in my mouth, pretty unfair of you to do. I can be unfair to you as well, watchQ! Are you projecting?

Well I apologize if you feel like I put words in your mouth.

However, it's true you're making an argument in bad faith. But if you're incapable of even recognizing that then you're just as incapable of any reasonable discussion (not that I doubted that given your replies to my comments).

Learn how to properly support the things you say instead of being ignorant. Because it's absolutely not true that every person "calling this preachy are only saying that cuz it's issues women face that they personally don't know about and it challenges their world view."

Thank you for apologizing. I've been more than reasonable. I don't want to argue with you anymore, we'll both just have to leave this convo thinking we're right and the other isn't. Have a nice day

The world depicted here is not one where just some individual men are terrible, and the goal is not to showcase the depravity of individual men. It is not an accident that there are no heroic male characters! What is depicted here is patriarchy as a system, and the inescapable nature of misogyny that comes for our throat in every aspect of life. Is is exaggerated since it's still a piece of fiction, but the real world is also so overbearingly misogynistic that it borders on the comical. The real life inspirations of most plot points is not historical injustice, but 21st century stuff.

And this story is not trying to change the minds of men, nor is it trying to entertain men specifically. As even some anti-feminist weebs on a few of these threads were capable of recognizing, this is an obvious power fantasy, and the author venting her frustrations. It just so happens that it's a power fantasy for women who like women, and the frustrations are with patriarchy. That's it. Catering to the interests of men was never the intention. I'm not saying this automatically makes this story good and beyond criticism, but most of the criticism I have seen here is based on a poor understanding and/or a hostile ideological position.

I can't stop these men from bitching and moaning chapter after chapter, but there is nothing "okay" about it. In fact, I'm going to be nice and assume that the men who are actually educated about this stuff, and actually give a fuck, have better things to do than to keep whining about or try to dunk on this story over and over again.

dunno why i didn't expect to find incels keepers of the status quo commenting on a manga about fighting back against misogyny but here we are

These people would not survive Her Tale of Shim Chong... Actually, my main criticism for this story is that Her Tale of Shim Chong did this concept way better.

These men who (allegedly) just hate being reminded of misogyny are free to piss off too - nobody is forcing them to read this comic. It has been extremely open about its intentions from the start, and it's been years for God's sake.
...ok? Whatever you say 😃👍.
