This was so hot. From the ring scene to their little dance.

Thanks for the translation (I agree the justification for the ring scene itself is somewhat suspect. But I like the yuri and I feel it outweighs it).

Came here to say exactly this.

It was stupid, of course, but
If the issue was just the sword being visible, the idea of a pocketspace Laplace had given earlier would have been accepted. The (idiotic) reason it did not work was that if the sword was needed it would still not fit the dress.

...Unless there is a surprise sword transformation whenever it is unleashed (which we know it will be).

And I'd bet that it is the princess approaching...

My guess is that the ring would be faster then the pocket space in regards to getting it out. Plus what if that sort of magic gets interfered with.

As for what Bayu said I don’t thing the doorman even knows they did with the sword as they’re probably just a normal person who guards events like this. I doubt he even knew they had the pocket dimension. Hades maybe he’s in on the attack that totally won’t happen and he wanted an excuse to make her be unarmed for said attack that definitely isn’t going to happen.

I do agree that a big ass sword does kinda look out of place with a party dress.

Laplace is pretty darn smooth.

That was the princess wasn't it?

The doorman actually doesn't care... And as far as he is concerned the "Guard Duty" of the girls is a polite joke.
The girls are basically fancy ornaments suited to escort High Ladies to the restroom, and not much more.

They look, act , and behave like "proper women" who cannot possibly be a threat to anyone, especialy a male. Any kind of weapon would be a fancy prop, and she might actually hurt herself using it. She listened to him like a Proper Woman, and got rid of the dangerous thing before she could hurt or embarass herself.
It's that kind of world...

He may have heard rumors of her winning the Tournament, but that must have been luck, or one of the Nobles with an eye on her decided to spoil and amuse her and rigged the tournament, or...
Any number of reasons why she's still underestimated, and her accomplishments aren't recognised.

Yes, I know... An assassin's wet dream... Which is why the "Poisonous Flower" is not a mere literary trope...

In a world where female assassins could rule and the strongest does not even have levels in it to revela her strength, having just a few as healer instead...
...
The leader of the assassins makes her teach an outsider so he could marry into the family and become their next heir.
Genius.
Oh no! The family was destroyed by the outsider! Curse this sudden yet inevitable betrayal!

You know with the way she was sent far away on a mission and wasn’t there during the time of the attack I feel like maybe the father did it on purpose. He already taught her everything he knew and he knew she was an amazing assassin so maybe he decided to have their family come to an end so they could no longer treat her like shit. Plus this way she’d have all the skills the family knew and everyone would think the family was dead so she’d be free from a lifetime of that profession and could do what she truly wanted in life.

Maybe I’m wrong but it’s a nice thought that he was willing to have their family line thought to be ended in order to free him from the family. Afterall I doubt a family like theirs wouldn’t have known about that other family being an assassin family as well

She mentions how people shouldn't be wearing heels, she's quite right on the matter. Heels were originally designed to help with stirrups when riding horses in places like Persia, they were later introduced to European nobility where they were taken up as fashionable footwear for men who were nobility. They were worn to show how little one had to work through the shoe's impracticality for walking, basically look how wealthy and powerful I am, I don't even need to walk.

I read something online about longswords that kinda explains a bit of the doorsman's actions.
They are not as stupid as they seem. They are in a way stupid, but not as much as they seem. And kinda may not even be his fault.

Longswords were apparently not the main weapon when in actual battle, the wielder actually had other weapons too.
But longswords were also dressswords, that is, swords allowed to be worn in social parties as a symbol of status as a swordsman. Every other weapon, including for example Tanya's sword, would not be allowed (knowingly, pretty sure some people would sneak in daggers for self-defense).

In other swords, his issue with Tanya and her giant sword is not really that it does not fit her clothes, it is because it is a giant sword and not a type of dresssword.

And the problem with her putting the giant sword in a pocketspace is not really about how it would look after she took it out of the pocketspace if needed, it is more that she told him about the sword being in a pocketspace so he was not allowed to allow it.
So as long as he is not told about the ring being able to become the sword, he has plausible deniability in case it is ever needed.

I'm kinda disappointed with this outcome, tbh. The original issue was "we won't allow you in even if you can make the sword disappear, because you'll still take it out during combat", which this is still the exact same scenario as. They would've had the same outcome as this if they'd walked away, vanished the sword like the original plan (instead of "vanishing" it into a ring), and then walked back through "without" the sword like they did this time.

I was kinda hoping Laplace would instead just make a more badass dress that could actually fit with the broadsword instead.

(edit: I guess to be clear, I know this was just an excuse for a yuri ring scene, but I think this being the justification for it feels kinda dumb even if the scene itself is cute)
Agreed... Japanese sapphics only like when it's femme I get it... Still I think it would've been nice to see her in pants

Wait, she says she's never worn heels before, but in chapter 2.1, pages 4 and 5, she gave Laplace some heels, which were "spare shoes from my city gear" was it just something Raion gave her that she never used, then?

Hmm... I could see him trying to impose shitty things, but not him giving gifts much.
