After having traveled to Japan and had varieties of wagyu for quite cheap, I can say their beef is better than anything comparative to cost in the US.

she is so adorable.
but 60 dollars for a small steak and it is being sold only 10 at day? is it THAT hard to prepare?
dang for 9000 yen I'd rather go to proper wagyu beef teppanyaki restaurant lol
ChatGPT-kun had this to say...

The price of A5 Wagyu sirloin can vary widely depending on origin, cut, retailer, and marbling — but here’s a general sense of what you might expect (in the U.S.):

  • Retail / online sale of raw A5 Wagyu sirloin: roughly US $120–200 per pound is common for authentic Japanese‑grade product. (PW Consulting)
  • Some sources put the range a bit broader: from around $50 up to over $300 per pound, depending on marbling, cut, and how it’s sold. (Chef's Resource)
  • If you order an A5 sirloin steak in a restaurant, expect significantly higher marks — the cost can multiply because of preparation, service, and overhead.
If you like — I can check current online retailers selling A5 Wagyu sirloin and show you a live price range (as of today), which might give a better snapshot. Want me to build that list for you now?
