It depends on the publisher. Some (especially Shonen Jump) will sent a lawyer with a highly-polished pair of boots to dropkick your ass for one ch into Legalmania XXL for a chance to get a steel chair to the face, while others will generally not give a shit, especially if the series is not outright popular or the mangaka is completely ok with it (Nogami is usually pretty chill about ppl enjoying art their own way, seeing as he hasn’t sued ak to the ground).

Usually the main striking point for deploying the tactical lawsuit is profiting: are you blatantly advertising that you’re making significant profit and/or cash flow out of it? A fan doing it for love and sustaining themselves like an non-profit NGO is usually let by. The asshat who paywalls the chs in his own website, releasing chs on YT, blatantly blasting ALL the ads in his virus-laden site, or straight-up demanding commissions ransom money to continue chugging off MTL slop (read: Comicdom)? That’s a boot to the head, combo into Evo Moment #38.

orcsen is like insanely progressive for 1870s standards so if he replicates 1870s america of our world.... idk man... shit would be bad though on the bright side reconstruction was happening but to replicate its mistakes would be to slide orcsen into a worse direction
