Torpedoes are fairly complex.

It requires a detonator, an engine, fuel, and a gyroscope at the minimum.

Additionally, the shock of entering the water can damage and disable the components.

Torpedoes only drastically improved around the 1900's, even though they were introduced around 1860.

From the description, torpedoes didn't fail from unintended detonation. Most of them failed from propulsion system. I think they would not be the same with artillery shells.

But yes, thermite formula adjusted for combat would be terrible to handle, and damage control. If I'm the captain, I'd probably used most of them early and avoid having them in gunfight.

Failed gyros too or ballast. Early torpedoes had an average failure rate of 50% if I remember correctly.

You should have one for any series, but especially for one like this, you need to have a master document of people, places, and things. Even moreso if you rely on machines to do translation, because they're not going to be consistent for every page.

Im not entirely certain why I'm being quoted, but I do agree.

However, as inconsistent as such a machine may be, this chapter was much less painful to read through. I did not feel like I was forcing myself to read through it.

The chapter previous on the other hand was so incredibly unpleasant that I had trouble even piecing together what the meaning of some sentences were.

Also, if I may ask with my tired and headache-addled mind, what am I being quoted about? I am very confused.
