Very cute and comfy chapter. Akira is adorable. Still feeling that meeting looming menacingly on the horizon though.

Never thought that Akira would be a gyaru heartbreaker.

Take that yuri fans!

Anyway, I find it interesting that Akira just says she has a rare disease, and no one seems to care.

"How tall a guy is doesn't matter for romance, at least to you" huh Rumi. I wonder why how tall a guy is wouldn't matter to you for romance... like perhaps it's the guy part that's the problem and not how tall they are.

The himejoshi in me hopes that's another one of the little hints that Rumi is a closet lesbian.

These images really sort of struck me. They're all prettier than usual here in this style. I daresay, tomboy chan even beats out Akira. Maybe it's the extra reflective eyes, the altered shading, something.

It's almost like.... this is what the guy who went up to them sees.

Yup.
The taller guy looks down at them and sees just girls.
The shorter guys who is at eye level with them sees prettier versions of the girls.

Hi, smileyguy crappy translations, I'm not sure of the semantics or legality of scanslating, but there are much higher resolution pages on X, and I thought that I should say it in case you're not aware.

There may be some slight differences between the official release and X though. There's also the difference in chapter lengths. (The creator releases first on X first with smaller chapters then puts them together into larger chapters in KADOCOMI)

Thanks for the translations as always!
Hello there.

I'm aware of the twitter version, I've followed it for a long time. The main reason to use the published one has always been the differences between the twitter version and the official chapter one. Sometimes even an extra page is added, so we've always opted for the official one. It's also the one our redrawer is more comfortable working.

We'll give it some thought though, and we're happy you enjoyed the chapter!!

Understood!
Thanks for clarifying. Really do appreciate the work you've been doing for this series, Cheers!

I mean, we don't know if they're bi/pan or not, but given that Akira and Rumi are dating, I think it's safe to say they're sapphic
They're not dating, unless I missed something? I think (and hope) they'll end up together, but I'm not sure either of them realise they're gay, or gay for each other yet.

Akira I think is too taken up still trying to be herself to actually think about her orientation that much right now. Okabe opened up Akira's eyes to the idea that just because she's is a girl now, that doesn't mean she has to like boys, she can like other girls that way too, but I don't think she's going to think about her orientation much until she's totally comfortable in herself (stops seeing the disease as a punishment and fully accepts herself), unless it's put in front of her and she's forced confront it.

Rumi on the other hand... I'm extremely confident she's not hetero, but I'm not sure she realises it yet. She was shaken about that male celebrity she liked being a scumbag, but she's clingy about Akira and other women, and has dropped hints a few times about being interested in Akira as more than a friend, like with the pocky thing, the "hold hands and kiss" thing, and the height comment in this chapter, among others. I think she's liked Akira for quite a long time, I just think she may not realise her feelings are more than platonic - or if she has realised, that realisation came really recently when Akira came out about the truth behind her disease, "Akira used to be a boy" might have seemed to her a plausible explanation for why she likes Akira in a special way, if she's not realised liking other girls is okay.

I think they'll probably end up together, but it'll probably take:
  • Akira allowing herself a relationship, which I think she's going to have hard time doing
  • Rumi realising the true nature of her feelings for Akira
  • The both of them dealing with their feelings about who Akira is versus she used to be. If Rumi rationalises her feelings for Akira on the basis of "It makes sense I like Akira as a girl, because she used to be a boy", that's going to make for a nasty hang-up they'll both need to overcome.

Or simply put, this manga does not have the romance tag. The bait is there more for Akira to explore who they are than anything else.

oh geez
the glacial pace of this manga's release did me in
between the confession I'm sure happened, but must've been 3 years ago, and the constant flirting they're up to (not to mention Rumi getting jealous), I was so sure they were dating
but yea looks like at the start of the volume Rumi said she was composing her feelings into a letter

so uh, egg on my face, fair enough
